Hard Habit to Break
1 Corinthians 11:28 (Courtesy of BibleGateway.com)
King James Version (KJV)
28 But let a man examine himself……
Ok we are 8 days in the New Year!!! How many resolutions have you made? (I’ll give you a second) Now, how many have you broken? There was a song by a group in the 80’s named Chicago. They had a song called “Hard Habit to Break.” It was one of my favorite songs.
Here are some of the lyrics:
“Now being without you takes a lot of getting use to. She learn to live with it, but I don’t want to. Being without you is all a big mistake, instead of getting easier, it’s the hardest thing to take. I’m addicted to you baby, you’re a hard habit to break”
Now taking just this part of the song, what habit is hard for you to break? What strong-hold do you have in your life? You can sing this song and it wouldn’t be about a man or a woman. Change the lyrics:
“Being without you, (Gossip, Pizza, Laziness, Chocolate), takes a lot of getting use to.” “I’m addicted to you, (Pookie, eating, gluttony, lying, stealing); you’re a hard habit to break.”
Looks different doesn’t it? Jesus came to break curses and strong hold in our lives. What are you doing different in your life this year? Are you so hooked to your “habit” that you’re addicted to it?
Be Fabulous and Be Blessed
