Don't Forget to Remember
Don't Forget To Remember
I sometimes forget things that have happened to me in the past. I'm not sure if it's because I unconsciously choose to forget or if my lack of memory is due to the fact that so many other things have happened that it just covers up the memories of the past? Often times I find myself making an attempt to pull scenes from the bank of old memories, but with no success. These tossed away memories aren't necessarily bad things, just 'things' that make me who I am. This memory lapse could be due to the fact that so many years have gone by. Whatever the reason I am unable to pull certain things at will, I'm thankful and assured that if and when I need something from my past to help with a present situation, God brings it to the front of my mind.
Over the many years I've been living, The Lord has done some pretty amazing things in my life. He saved me when I wasn't really worth being saved. He delivered me so many, many times. The Lord God kept me when I had no interest in being kept. When I wanted to live no more, God gave me reason to live. The Lord kept a roof over my head, even as I was being put out of one place. I could go on and on, because He never stopped supplying my every need, but I need to make a point before my imaginary cubicle becomes my dance floor! God has been abundantly kind!
I sometimes forget just how blessed and favored I am. I forget that I've been given a measure of faith, and I find myself drifting into what appears to be the corridor of some sort of depression. Drifting at the thought that my income is considerably lower than what I need it to be. I've been here before, but this time is different, or so I tell myself that.
I sometimes forget to remember. Remember how blessed and favored I really am, how all my needs are met. I sometimes forget to remember that all I have to do is communicate with the Father; cast all my cares on Him, He cares for me.
As I reflect on the many memories I have of God's goodness, it forces me to a place of praise. Knowing that if He did it before, He can do it again.
Be encouraged today, knowing that God sees all and He knows all. Instead of focusing on what is visible, reflect on that which is spiritual. The Lord will allow you to remember what you sometimes seem to forget; God is____________, and God will____________.
